SUMMARY: Primary function of this position is to ensure proper management of the assigned dispatch coordinators in the management of company assets for the safe and efficient movement of freight. This would also include the management of approved outside Carriers. The position requires professional communications, computer and presentation skills. Position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner to achieve financial success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
The Dispatch Supervisor manages the daily work of the assigned dispatch to plan, execute, monitor and manage a component of assigned drivers/equipment and implement customer plans, routes, schedules, and to pick up or deliver freight. The Dispatch Supervisor coordinates the assigned dispatchers for the efficient and timely entry of all company and customer related data into the company transportation software and/or related software in the transportation department. Works closely with the JIT Logistics Analyst and outside Carriers and ensures assigned dispatchers execute the operation efficiently to ensure that the customer’s needs are being met including the communication of essential information of pick up and delivery information to the customer, carriers, and drivers. Ensures the assigned dispatchers updates the transportation software database files with customer, carrier, vehicle, driver information, and all other relevant information. Ensures that all accident and incidents regarding driver injury, equipment, and driver safety concerns are reported to the Human Resource, Driver Supervisor, Transportation Manager and Safety Department. Ensures the proper training of all assigned dispatchers in the assigned responsibilities. Ensures all department required forms and documents are completed in a timely basis. Ensures that proper coordination of scheduled driver coverage and driver Time Off requests (Vacation/Sick/Bereavement) with the Driver Supervisors. Responsible for the management of dispatch accountability as it relates to DOT compliance, operations, equipment usage, company policies and the discipline of the same for the assigned work group. Responsible for monitoring and obtaining KPI and Productivity goals as established by the Transportation Manager and determined by company ownership for the assigned work group. Other duties as assigned.
Supervises the assigned Transportation Coordinators. Responsibilities include: planning, assigning, and directing work, coaching, appraising performance, rewarding and assisting in disciplining employees, addressing complaints, employee engagement and resolving problems. Assists with interviewing, hiring, safety, and training employees. Assists with daily, weekly and monthly KPI reporting as determined by the Manager. Assists with analyzing performance gaps and creating action plans to address performance issues. Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation as it related to improving processes, addressing performance, creating action plans and ensuring proper training and development of employees. Responsible for maintaining a highly engaging culture, motivating employees, fostering an environment with high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication and vision to employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field or a minimum of ten years in a dispatch or load planning position with a supervisory experiences in a fleet size/or driver size of 50 or more utilizing a specialized transportation software.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Previous experience in a transportation supervisor position required. Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. Must possess excellent personal computer skills and having working knowledge of a transportation software i.e. : TMW, McCloud, Peoplenet, Rand McNally, PCMiler etc.. and Microsoft Office products software i.e.; Word, Outlook, and Excel. Knowledge of Transportation fleet models; Extensive knowledge in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and CTPAT. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
